POLYESTER: STEP-BY-STEP

Hide

In transfer printing, there are less steps involved than in direct printing. However, the results are similar – vibrant colour, great colour-fastness and a completely washable end product.
1. PREPARING THE DESIGN FOR PRINTING: In terms of colour, what you draw or paint, print from a file, or view on screen will print differently on fabric. We colour-match the design to your specifications, providing printed tests on fabric for you to approve.
2. PRINTING: We print the design onto a specially prepared transfer paper with disperse dye, which is then heat pressed onto fabric.
3. PRESSING (SUBLIMATION): The printed paper is placed face down onto the right side of the fabric and fed through a large heat press. When the paper and fabric come through heat press, the print has been sublimated (transferred) from the paper to the fabric. The paper is then recycled. Once the fabric is out of the press, it is ready to use and no further finishing is required.
